[Avionics Today 12-03-2014] Japan Airlines’ (JAL) new Boeing 787-8, which entered into revenue service on Dec. 1, has become the first carrier in Asia to fly with Thales’ Android-based Avant In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) system on board a Boeing 787 aircraft.

Through the IFE system, JAL offers passengers on-demand entertainment, 3-D maps, JAL Shop and Sky Manga — a service that allows passenger access to digital manga on the Thales system. Available in all classes on international routes, passengers will have access to 90 Japanese and 30 English titles. All 15 JAL line-fit Boeing 787 aircraft will feature Avant.
