[Avionics Today 10-08-2014] Northrop Grumman is currently developing the next generation of Black Hawk helicopter cockpit display systems using ANSYS system and software simulation solutions. Northrop is using ANSYS SCADE Suite and SCADE Display to provide scalable, fully integrated avionics software for the upgrade of the UH-60L Black Hawk cockpit to the digitized UH-60V and to meet safety-critical avionics standards such as DO-178C.

Up to 750 UH-60L aircraft are expected to be modified to the UH-60V configuration, which represents the first fully integrated avionics system for U.S. Army utility aircraft.

“ANSYS’ commitment and involvement in Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE) includes support for ARINC-653, ARINC-661 and DO-178C,” said Eric Bantegnie, ANSYS vice president for systems. “Using these proven solutions will allow Northrop to optimize its system and software strategies and reduce development costs.”
