Garmin Releases Electronic Flight Instrument for Experimental Aircraft

[Avionics Today 03-31-2016] Garmin has released an Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS) for Experimental Amateur-Built (EAB) and Light Sport Aircraft (LSA), the G5. According to Garmin, the G5 can serve as either a back-up instrument to other EFI systems, or as a standalone primary flight instrument, with optional autopilot mode.

The G5 has a 3.5-inch Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) with built-in GPS, to display attitude, ground track, altitude, airspeed, groundspeed, vertical speed, slip/skid, course (lateral) deviation, vertical deviation and incorporates a dedicated Horizontal Situation Indicator (HIS) page.
