Space-based automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) is a logical extrapolation of terrestrial antenna-based ADS-B and may be the only way to use this surveillance technology in oceanic, mountainous, or extremely remote areas. It could also provide an alternative for air navigation service providers (ANSP) looking for a more economical early deployment of ADS-B in their national airspace.

In this Webinar panelists will discuss how the partnership between ADS-B Technologies and Globalstar has developed a practical and cost effective Space-based ADS-B system that is compatible with virtually any 978 Megahertz Universal Access Transceiver, or 1090 MHz Extended Squitter (ES) ADS-B avionics source. This unique fusion of a small company’s innovative approach with a proven global satellite communications provider may be the foundation of a safer and more efficient worldwide air traffic surveillance system in the future.

Panelists will also explain why Globalstar’s new low latency “bent pipe” constellation is a perfect fit for Space-based ADS-B. Interesting graphics will show design details and document the actual flight tests of the ADS-B Link Augmentation System (ALAS) device during the past two years.
