Private Jet Travel, One Seat at a Time
CogoJets is offering a new online meeting place for travelers wanting to share the cost of a private jet flight by allowing passengers to purchase one seat at a time. Passengers can also fill empty seats on existing flights. The company promises a 90 percent savings over the cost of retail cost of private jet travel.
"CoGoJets was designed to service both business and leisure travelers,” said Founder and CEO Jamie Walker. “Having been in the industry for 10 years I have been asked by numerous people, if they could pick up an empty seat or share a private jet to their destination."
CogoJets members book a private jet together and split the expense based on the seats they occupy. The company offers three levels of membership depending on a member’s flight profile and cabin-size preference. In addition, it also offers carbon offsetting with donations to Sustainable Travel International.
CoGoJets is based in Omaha and was founded earlier this year by Walker, who also serves as CEO of Jet Linx Aviation. The latter company was founded in 1999 as a Part 135 on-demand charter operator offering charter and aircraft management. It currently operates 24 aircraft from six bases nationwide. Walker is responsible for sales, marketing and development for both CoGoJets and Jet Linx.
The business model creates a shared use of private aircraft on a per-seat, pro rata basis. CoGoJets acts as an agent for members seeking a shared jet. “CoGoJet members enjoy all the benefits of private jet travel and the per-seat economy of commercial travel,” said the company on its web site.
Its $2,500 membership fee gains it access to CoGoJets’ nationwide database of members available to share Light Jet, Midsize Jet and Heavy Jet flights.
