GAMA Creates Eco Committee

Following in the footsteps of other aviation associations, the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) created a committee to weigh in on developing environment policies. It hopes to become a leader in developing and distributing environmental information regarding general aviation. In addition it intends to participate in research. GAMA Chair Alan Klapmeier noted the need for objective, science-based policies which allow growth while reducing aviation’s environment footprint. Chairing the new committee is Bombardier Business Aircraft President Steven Ridolfi, who also service on GAMA’s board. GAMA noted that general aviation manufacturers have introduced technology that has yielded a 50 percent improvement in specific fuel consumption for business jet engines since the 1960s.
