Part 135 operators seeking guidance on how to maintain operational control will be able to play 20 questions with the FAA, which has issued its long-awaited FAQ on Operational Control. The agency published the document on its web site on February 11. The agency settled on a series of 20 questions related to the proper exercise of operational control and implementation of Operations Specification A008.
The FAQ, developed in cooperation with teh National Air Transportation Association, the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA), and several industry participants, provides responses to an industry-developed list of questions pertaining to 14 CFR part 135 operational control issues. This list of Q&As can be viewed on the FAAs Part 135 Air Carrier Operations (AFS-250) website:
It is designed for directors of operations, chief pilots, directors of maintenance, check airmen, training managers, and pilots of part 135 air carriers to ensure operational control is maintained during all phases of Part 135 operations.
