Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood to Resign

Ray LaHood on Tuesday said he will not serve a second term as U.S. Transportation Secretary.

Announcing his plan to resign Tuesday at DOT headquarters in Washington, LaHood reflected on his tenure, including the FAA reauthorization and progress on NextGen.

“We have made unprecedented investments in our nation’s ports. And we have put aviation on a sounder footing with the FAA reauthorization, and secured funding in the 'Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act' to help States build and repair their roads, bridges and transit systems,” said LaHood.

LaHood will remain at the top post in the U.S. Department of Transportation for several months until the U.S. Senate confirms his successor. More
