Azerbaijan carrier Silk Way Airlines is looking to bolster its air cargo fleet, announcing a $704 million order for two Boeing 747-8 Freighters.

Zaur Akhundov, president of Silk Way parent company SW Holding said the order was aimed at improving the airline's "regional and international footprint. Currently, Silk Way operates a fleet of Boeing 747-400 and 767-300 Freighters.

The four-engined 747-8 Freighter first entered service in 2011 with Cargolux Airlines, featuring a 16 percent increase in cargo volume over the 747-400.
