SH09 Enters Prototype Assembly as Marenco Targets China

Marenco Swisshelicopter is making “great progress” toward establishing a support network for the SH09 SKYe in China. The manufacturer exhibited at this year’s China Helicopter Exposition, which ran from September 5 to 8 in Tianjin. According to Mathias Senes, commercial director for Marenco, the company is moving ahead “its strategy to set up an infrastructure to serve the Chinese markets.”

The manufacturer is assembling the first prototype SH09 using a staff that now stands at 75 people. Marenco has tested the rotor systems, gearboxes, straps and blades, and is working with Honeywell to advance the HTS-900-2 engine that will power the seven-passenger SH09. Senes told Rotor & Wing that first flight is on target for the end of 2013, with EASA certification projected in 2014 and deliveries starting in 2015.

CEO Martin Stucki noted in a statement: “The data from testing is in line with our preliminary performance expectations and past simulations; this will support us in maintaining our goal of having the prototype assembled over the next few weeks.”
