Pratt & Whitney Completes Assembly of First Engine for Airbus A320neo
Pratt & Whitney completed assembly of its first PurePower PW1100G-JM engine for the Airbus A320neo.
The engine will be one of eight test engines to enter the PW1100G-JM engine test program over the next two years. Pratt & Whitney said the engine reduces fuel burn by about 15 percent for the A320neo compared to the A320ceo.
“The PurePower engine is an integral part of the Airbus A320neo family of aircraft,” said Klaus Roewe, senior vice president, A320neo family at Airbus. “We continue to work closely with Pratt & Whitney to integrate the engine with the airframe, and we look forward to reviewing the initial test results from this first engine to test.”
The PW100G-JM is scheduled to enter into service for the A320neo in October 2015.
