Pratt & Whitney Canada Signs New Engine Agreements With Cessna, Viking Air
Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) signed new engine supply agreements at the 2012 NBAA conference with Viking Air Limited and Cessna.
Viking Air Limited
The 10-year general terms agreement with Viking Air Limited calls for P&WC to supply PT6 engines, including the PT6A-34 for the Twin Otter aircraft.
"Just as when a customer buys the Twin Otter they're getting more than an ordinary aircraft, by buying the PT6, we're getting more than an ordinary engine. The PT6 and the Twin Otter are extraordinary together, and continue to bring out the best in each other,” said David Curtis, president & CEO of Viking.
P&WC and Cessna expect to certify both the Citation Sovereign and the PW306D engine in early 2013.
The PW306D engine provides an increase in thrust and an overall SFC improvement over the PW306C, and the engine control system will be fully integrated With the Sovereign’s auto-throttle system.
"Built on the strengths of the PW300 family and the proven reliability and durability of more than 11 million flying hours, the PW306D engine will meet the increased power requirements of the new Citation Sovereign with the best thrust to weight ratio in its class," said David Van der Wee, vice-president, marketing, P&WC.
