Pilatus, Saab Partner For Swedish Air Force Training

[Aviation Today March 28, 2014] Swiss airframe manufacturer Pilatus has signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with defense and security company Saab to develop a PC-21 training solution for the Swedish Air Force.

The MoU was signed as the Swedish Air Force considers replacing their fleet of SK 60 twin engine trainer aircraft.  Saab originally developed the SK 60 for Sweden in the 1960s, and currently has a full turnkey contract with the Swedish Defense Material Administration, FMV, for the Swedish Air Force’s SK 60s.

"Saab’s SK 60 has helped train generations of Swedish Air Force pilots and we are pleased to enter into a MoU with Pilatus, to proactively explore its replacement with the PC-21," said Lennart Sindahl, executive vice president and head of aeronautics at Saab.
