German aircraft leasing company Doric Lease Corp. inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Airbus
on the first day of the 2013 Paris Air Show for 20 A380s.
The $8-billion agreement with Doric is the largest order for the two-level, super jumbo 800-passenger aircraft that Airbus
has received since 2010. According to Airbus, Doric will finalize the agreement within the next several months, and deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2016.
The A380 is "moving into a new chapter," remarked John Leahy, chief operating officer at Airbus. Once the Doric agreement is finalized, Airbus will be five aircraft short of its target to sell 25 A380s this year.
