Navy Grants Scion Helo UAS Contract
Fort Collins, Colo.-based Scion UAS has obtained a $3-million contract from the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory involving the SA-400 Jackal unmanned aircraft system (UAS). The ship-launched vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft is an optionally piloted vehicle (OPV) and receives power from a turbine engine. The Navy will use the unmanned helicopter system to develop and demonstrate new sensor systems.
