Danish aircraft leasing firm Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC) placed a $ 1 billion order for 15 ATR 600 series regional turboprop aircraft Thursday.
The latest order is an add-on to a previous $2.1 billion order from NAC placed at the 2013 Paris Air Show for 35 ATR 600 series turboprops, with options for 55 more. NAC signed the new order with ATR at the European Regional Association (ERA) General Assembly in Salzburg, Austria.
"Their strong performance and reliability, coupled with their proven operational success in very different environments make them the right choice for us when thinking about expanding our regional aircraft activities. When a type of aircraft is operated by more than 180 airlines in more than 90 countries, you have the best proof of their popularity and convenience for regional networks," said Martin Moller, chairman of NAC.
ATR said NAC has now placed cumulative orders for 130 aircraft in recent months for 50 firm 600 series turboprops and options for 80 more.
