Source: AgustaWestland

Kagoshima International Aviation has placed an order for an AgustaWestland GrandNew light twin configured for emergency medical service (EMS) missions. The GrandNew will be based at the Hakodate Airport and will serve Hakodate City Hospital in Southern Hokkaido. The helicopter represents the company’s second GrandNew with an EMS configuration – the first is based in the Kagoshima Prefecture.

This latest purchase is part of the Doctor Heli system program, which is intended to provide modern airborne EMS coverage to all prefectures in Japan. The order further expands the presence of EMS-configured GrandNew helicopters in the Japanese market, with GrandNew helicopters being used for roles including EMS, law enforcement, VIP/corporate transport and electronic newsgathering (ENG).
