Japan Airlines Reports Another Dreamliner Fuel Leak
Japan Airlines reported a 26-gallon fuel leak on its Boeing 787 Dreamliner during an inspection Sunday at Tokyo’s Narita International Airport.
The fuel leak is the latest in a string of recent incidents involving the Dreamliner, as Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways had to cancel several flights last week after encountering an electrical fire, braking system failure and multiple fuel leaks.
“We are aware of the event and working to support our customer,” a Boeing spokeswoman told Aviation Today in an emailed statement.
Despite the recent incidents involving its 787, Boeing has maintained its position that the airplane is safe to fly and characterized the issues as standard for a new plane.
The recent problems with 787 prompted FAA to call for a special safety review of the Dreamliner on Friday. Boeing is cooperating with the agency in conducting the safety review, which will review all of the recent reported issues and evaluate of all of the aircraft’s critical systems. More
