Gulf Air has signed JorAMCo to a new three-year agreement to provide heavy maintenance and C check fleet requirements.
The Kingdom of Bahrain's national carrier selected the regional Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility based in Jordan because of its close proximity to Bahrain, said Maher, Salman Al Musallam, CEO of Gulf Air. JorAMCo's location allows Gulf Air to obtain maintenance for its aircraft without leaving the region, leading to decreased turnaround times and reducing operational costs.
JorAMCo will provide maintenance checks for Gulf Air's fleet of A330s and A320 family aircraft.
“Gulf Air’s entire engineering requirement is now based in Bahrain and the Middle East, yielding innumerable benefits for the airline, which directly improve efficiency and passenger experience. Greater aircraft technical dispatch reliability and higher aircraft availability allow us to operate more frequencies and improve our on-time performance," said Jamal Hashim, the airline's chief technical officer.
