Gogo Approved for JAL Connectivity

Woodrow Bellamy III

[Avionics Today May 8, 2014] Gogo announced a new Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) from the FAA and certification from the Japanese Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB) to install its Ku-satellite based connectivity service on Japan Airlines' 777-300 aircraft.

The 777-300 is the second aircraft type in JAL's fleet that Gogo has received FAA and JCAB approval for. The announcement of the second aircraft comes following an agreement signed by JAL with Gogo in October 2013 to install in-flight Wi-fi service across its entire commercial fleet.

"This is another major milestone for Gogo and a big step forward as we continue our progress on the launch of connectivity services for JAL," said Michael Small, Gogo's president and CEO. "Navigating the FAA and international regulatory bodies to get various connectivity technologies in the market is no small feat," said Gogo CEO Michael Small.
