GECAS Orders 5 ATR 72-600s

Woodrow Bellamy III

GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) placed a firm order for five ATR 72-600 aircraft at the Dubai Airshow on Monday, Nov. 18, as the Irish aircraft-leasing firm looks to increase its fleet of fuel-efficient turboprops.

The order includes options for five additional 72-600s, a $241 million value if all options are confirmed.

“The ATR 72-600 is a key piece of GECAS’s regional aircraft portfolio of modern, fuel-efficient aircraft,” said Norman Liu, president and CEO of GECAS. “We have seen significant market interest in the ATRs and that is why we have added more of them to our portfolio. These aircraft will support the strong growth in regional air transport we anticipate over the coming years.”

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2015.
