FAA Proposes Civil Penalty Against US Airways
FAA is proposing a $354,000 civil penalty against US Airways for operating a Boeing 757 that was not in compliance with FAA regulations.
The agency alleges the Phoenix-based carrier replaced a leaking engine fuel pump on the aircraft in August 2010, but then failed to perform the FAA-required inspections prior to returning the aircraft to service.
FAA said the airline operated 916 commercial flights with the aircraft between August and December 2010.
