Embraer to Implement PTC System
Embraer is replacing its legacy product lifecycle management (PLM) provider with PTC, looking to bring new innovative aircraft to the market faster and more efficiently.
PTC spokesman Ali Aceto said Embraer’s selection represents an “interesting trend” in the aircraft market, as manufacturers look to modernize their technology infrastructure to meet the demand for the estimated 33,000 new aircraft to be delivered over the next 20 years.
Mitsubishi Aircraft Corp. also recently implemented the PTC product lifecycle solution.
The system offered by PTC gives manufacturers the ability to manage product data from a wide range of design sources, whereas other PLM solutions are often limited in this capability.
“PTC showed us a strong technical and commercial solution that matched our key ITC enterprise architecture – wide functionality and flexible parameterization to avoid customization, open and easy interfacing allowing integration into a heterogeneous environment, and a flexible licensing and support model with balanced intellectual property protection minimizing our total cost of ownership,” said Alexandre Baulé, CIO at Embraer.
