Embraer received production certification for the assembly of its Phenom 300 business jet at its Melbourne, Fla., facility.

FAA issued the type certificate to the Brazilian manufacturer on Wednesday.

The agency has also issued type certification for production of the Phenom 100 at the Melbourne facility.

“When we arrived on the scene in Melbourne, we promised to hire 200 employees and we are now well over that number with many coming from the Kennedy Space Center. Our employees successfully validated the ‘paperless’ production process, allowing a leaner, more efficient operation and enabling the Phenom 300 to be produced on the same line as the Phenom 100," said Phil Krull, managing director of Melbourne production at Embraer.

The company's first U.S.-produced Phenom 300 was delivered to an undisclosed customer in March.
