Eclipse Adds ABS to Twin-Engine Jet

Eclipse Aerospace added an anti-skid braking system (ABS) option to the Eclipse Twin-Engine Jet, the company said Wednesday.

Eclipse said the ABS retrofit installation will be available in early 2013 for its Twin-Engine Jet, and will be available at initial deliveries of new production Eclipse 550 jets as well.

The new ABS includes two brake control valves, two axle mounted wheel speed sensors and a software update to the Eclipse Avio processing center software, with a total installation weight of approximately 17 pounds.

"Testing of this system has exceeded our expectations, from normal touchdown speeds to a complete stop in less than 750 feet with aggressive braking," said Cary Winter, senior vice president of Eclipse. "ABS and the previously announced Auto Throttles are just two of the many exciting new features and engineering enhancements Eclipse Aerospace will be releasing in the very near future."
