[Aviation Today June 20, 2014] Compass Airlines is adding 20 new Embraer E175 jets to its commercial operations under a new agreement with American Airlines. The regional carrier expects deliveries of the new aircraft to begin in the first quarter of 2015.

The addition of the new jets will increase the all-Embraer Compass fleet to 62 aircraft when the deliveries are complete. All of the new airplanes will feature in-flight connectivity and will be powered by General Electric CF34 engines.

This will be the first time Copmass provides regional service for American. The aircraft transfer is the result of an December 2013 American Airlines purchase of 60 new Embraer E175 jets, with options for up to 90 additional aircraft.
