Cessna's New Citation Sovereign made its first production flight at Mid-Continent Airport in Wichita, Kan. The flight included tests of the Garmin G5000 avionics system.
"The aircraft handling characteristics and performance were exceptional, just as we had anticipated after flying more than 1,300 hours in three test flight articles. The Garmin G5000 avionics system provides a sense of control and situational awareness that any pilot will appreciate,"said Matt Freund, a production flight test pilot for Cessna.
Cessna is expecting the new jet to enter into service during the third quarter.
The New Sovereign is one of six new aircraft that Cessna expects to bring to the market in 2013, including the new Citation X, Citation M2, TTx, Grand Caravan EX and 182 Turbo Skylane JT-A.
