CIT Orders 10 Airbus A350 XWBs

New York-based bank holding company CIT Group placed a firm $2.77 billion order for 10 Airbus A350-900s, its second order for the A350 XWB family aircraft.

The firm is looking to expand its portfolio of medium-to-long haul aircraft, and now has a total backlog of 15 A350 XWB family aircraft, Airbus said.

“As one of the leading lessors in the world with more than 110 twin aisle aircraft currently in our portfolio and on order, CIT Aerospace maintains one of the youngest, most fuel efficient fleets in the industry. This new order underscores our commitment to delivering highly efficient aircraft to our global customer base,” said C. Jeffrey Knittel, president of CIT Transportation Finance.

The A350 XWB is scheduled to enter into service in 2014. More
