[Avionics Today 1-04-2016] Bombardier has delivered the very first Q400 cargo-combi aircraft to Ryukyu Air Commuter (RAC) of Okinawa, Japan. A member of the Japan Airlines Group, RAC is the launch customer for this new variant of the Q400 aircraft, which features a cargo-passenger combi configuration. Bombardier unveiled the aircraft at the Farnborough Airshow in July 2014.
The Q400 cargo-combi is a turboprop aircraft that offers up to 9,000 pounds of cargo capacity and up to 1,150 cubic feet of cargo volume. In this version, the aircraft can accommodate between 50 and 58 passengers. Manufactured at Bombardier’s facility in Toronto, Canada, the aircraft is one of five ordered by RAC.
