Azerbaijan Airlines: Boeing 787s to Enter Service in 2014

Azerbaijan Airlines has selected British Airways Engineering and AJ Walter Aviation to provide maintenance, repair and overhaul for its fleet of Boeing 787s, which will begin flight operations in 2014.

Under the agreement, AJW and British Airways will provide line and phased maintenance, flight crew and technical training, MRO IT solutions and component pooling support for the national carrier of Azerbaijan.

According to Trend News Agency, the airline has an order to purchase two 787s from Boeing for $90 million, the first country in Central Asia to receive the aircraft.

The MRO selection comes following Boeing's recent announcement that it has completed the final certification test required by FAA for the new 787 lithium-ion battery system.
