Avolon Firms $1.9 Billion Airbus A320neo Order

Irish aircraft leasing firm Avolon placed a $1.9 billion order for 20 A320neo aircraft with Airbus, an increase over its commitment for 15 A320neos announced in July 2012.

Avolon said it would make an engine selection for the planes at a later date. The A320neo is scheduled to enter into service in 2015 and is available with either CFM International’s Leap or Pratt & Whitney PW1100G engines.

“Our increased commitment to the NEO reflects the strong customer feedback we have received since our original announcement for 15 NEO aircraft in July 2012. Maintaining a forward order book of highly fuel-efficient, new generation aircraft is a natural complement to our extensive sale and leaseback and other financing capabilities and maintains our position as a premier, full-service aircraft lessor,” said John Higgins, chief commercial officer of Avolon.

The two companies did not announce a delivery date for the new planes. More
