Avolon Finalizes Order for Boeing 737s
Irish leasing company Avolon on Thursday finalized an order with Boeing for a total of 25 737 aircraft.
According to Boeing, Avolon purchased 10 737 MAX 8s, 5 737 MAX 9s and 10 Next-Generation 737-800s for $2.4 billion. The two companies originally announced the aircraft commitments at this year’s Farnborough Airshow.
The 737 Max aircraft is equipped with CFM International LEAP-1B engines.
"Our customers are always looking for more fuel-efficient airplanes," said John Higgins, president and chief commercial officer for Avolon. "The 737 MAX will provide the fuel efficiency and operating economics airlines need to be successful. The 737 MAX is in high demand worldwide and securing valuable, attractive positions early in the MAX program ideally positions Avolon to best serve our growing global customer base."
