Avation PLC has confirmed its $120 million order for five ATR 72-600 regional turboprop aircraft, ATR said Monday, Dec. 16.
The Singapore-based aircraft leasing firm is reportedly seeing a strong continued demand for the 72-600s, and decided to convert options from a previous ATR purchase into a firm order. With the new order, Avation now has a total of 14 firm ATR 72-600s scheduled for delivery by the end of 2015, and 27 further options remaining for additional aircraft.
Filippo Bagnato, CEO of ATR, said the order demonstrates Avation PLC's "confidence" in using the 72-600 for their regional aviation businesses in Australia and Southeast Asia.
“This order clearly consolidates the strong importance of leasing firms also in the market of short-haul and thin operations. Since 2010, leasing firms represent not only an increasing part of our portfolio of customers and backlog, but also a very dynamic, valuable and flexible solution for regional operators all over the world," said Bagnato.
