McArtor, who currently serves as chairman of Airbus Americas, will take over for Sean O'Keefe who will step down from the position on March 1, 2014. O'Keefe is resigning to address ongoing medical issues as the result of a 2010 airplane accident that occurred in Alaska. He will continue to serve with the company under a special assignment position.
The resignation of O'Keefe occurs following the recent rebranding of EADS as Airbus Group, as the company looks to rebrand itself under its most popular commercial airframe products.
McArtor previously has served as head of the FAA and founder and CEO of Legend Airlines.
“For nearly 13 years Allan has been a key member of the Airbus Americas senior leadership team and has served as its chairman during a period of significant growth and expansion. His previous government and private sector experience will be an invaluable asset to Airbus Group and, with his aviation-rich biography, Allan will give us tremendous lift and thrust in the U.S," said Tom Enders, CEO of Airbus Group.
