European missile systems developer MBDA announced the successful release of its Marte MK2/S anti-ship inert missile under the wing of the Airbus
C295 maritime patrol aircraft (MPA). The flight test was part of a series of trials performed in a joint collaboration between Airbus
Military and MBDA to demonstrate the integration of Marte on the C295.

MBDA reports that the successful flight demonstration adds new operational capabilities to the C295, which is currently in-service carrying the MK46 torpedo in the anti-submarine warfare (ASW) role.
The Marte is a medium-range sea-skimming anti-ship weapon system that has previously been integrated on the AW-101 and NH90 helicopters for the Italian Navy.
