Air France Fined for Violating Price Advertising Regulations
The U.S. Department of Transportation issued an $85,000 fine to Air France for violating its full-fare advertising regulations.
The department said Air France did not disclose government taxes and other substantial fees to frequent fliers, a practice it called “unfair and misleading to consumers.”
“Consumers deserve fair treatment from airlines when it comes to price advertising, including up-front disclosure of taxes and fees they must pay in order to fly,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood.
