ANA Makes $16.6B Boeing-Airbus Mixed Purchase

[Aviation Today March 27, 2014] Japan's All Nippon Airways (ANA) is making a $16.6 billion purchase of a mixed order of Airbus and Boeing aircraft.

Boeing took the bulk of the order, receiving a $13 billion agreement for 14 of the 787-9 model, 20 of the upgraded 777X and six current model 777s. ANA is also purchasing seven A320neos and 23 A321neo aircraft from Airbus

"Both aircraft makers were very aggressive in their sales pitches," ANA President Shinichiro ITO said to reporters during a press conference in Tokyo. With the Airbus order, ANA will become Japan's first A320neo operator when deliveries begin later this year.
