Steve was hired by Hughes Airwest in 1979, where he worked the line as an Airframe and Powerplant Technician. After the merger of Hughes Airwest into Republic Airlines, Steve worked the line and check hangar and became a lead technician in 1986. After Republic Airlines was merged into Northwest Airlines, Steve worked for the combined carriers for 25 years.

In 1999, Steve was elected president of AMFA Local 33 and served two terms. During his terms, Steve was called upon to testify in federal court on AMFA’s behalf as well as to testify in front of the Presidential Emergency Board (PEB) during the 2001 contract negotiations. Steve also has been interviewed on many live radio and television programs, advocating for the aircraft mechanic’s profession. Steve was elected to serve as an AMFA Delegate to the 2004 National Convention and is currently the National Director.

Steve holds an Airframe and Powerplant license, as well as an Associates Degree in Applied Science from the Spartan School of Aeronautics.
