Captain Ardis TANG Bio
Captain Ardis TANG Sing Tung has served the Government Flying Service since 1991. Upon graduation from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, he joined the “Cadet Pilot” scheme of the GFS, he continue to serve the government from then on.
He became Qualified Helicopter Instructor in 1997; he is an authorized Type Rating Examiner and Instrument Rating Examiner on the AS 332 L2. Training and examining become his main assignment. During his services in the GFS, he has accumulated over 6,500 flight hours including some demanding missions. Awards include the Medal of Bravery (Bronze) in the year 1998 and 2004. He has been type rated on the Robinson R22, Schweizer 200 BC, Bell 206, Sikorsky S76, Sikorsky S70A, and currently rated on the AS 332 L2, EC 155B1 and the EC 225.
Since 2005, he actively involved in SAR Pilot training in the Mainland China. His latest assignment was commanding a disaster relief team of GFS in Sichuan, China after the Richter scale 8.0 earthquakes happened on the 12th May 2008. They have flown 26 sorties in three weeks and successfully evacuated 96 desperate survivors from the demanding mountainous region of Sichuan.
