Chris Baur is a pilot with a diverse and distinguished aviation career spanning the military, government, airline and private sectors. With over 11000 flight hours, he is a dual rated ATP and CFII-MEI. He first earned his wings in the US Army and went on to also become a rated aviator in the US Coast Guard and Command Pilot US Air Force Reserve & ANG. Qualified in eight military aircraft, including the OH-58A, HH-65A, HH-60G and HC-130N, Chris served as a search and rescue pilot with many accolades and accomplishments. Credited with numerous Search and Rescue missions, including the longest helicopter oceanic rescue flown in history, the “Salvador Allende” mission, TWA 800, and US Air 5050, he understands the value of safety, training and technology.
A former US Customs Law Enforcement Agent/Pilot, he earned awards such as the 1995 Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association’s Medal of Valor for Heroism, presented by Attorney General Janet Reno.
Captain Baur currently flies the B737, B757 and B767 for a major US air carrier, and also holds additional type ratings on the B777, SA365, HU369 and BH206.
As the President of Hughes Aerospace, Chris leads a team of subject matter experts, which offer Consulting and Technical Services in Satellite Based Technologies. Hughes is involved with Performance Based Navigation and Communication projects throughout the globe.
