| At this day major Zsolt Remzso was performing a temporary helicopter landing point information service duty, supporting the training of his helicopter base. An MI-8 helicopter formation (two helicopters)was practicing aproaching and landing, at night. At 18:31 during the fourth approaching the lead helicopter in the landing maneuvre rolled in, turned over, totally destroyed and started to burn. The Major risked his life, running to the burning helicopter to bring away the two seriously injured pilots, just before the helicopter fuel tank exploded. Then he administered first aid until the emergency and the SAR teams arrived. He saved two lives this night. Both pilots were laying just beside the burning helicopter out of their mind, with serious fractures, and bleeding. | |
