Kaman Works on New Zealand Seasprite Deal

The U.S. State Department has authorized Bloomfield, Conn.-based Kaman Corp. to begin negotiations with the government of New Zealand involving the SH-2G Super Seasprite. The proposed sale would cover 11 SH-2Gs, a full-motion simulator, training guides, spares, technical documents and support for the life of the aircraft.

Government officials in New Zealand have been discussing the most effective way to address future maritime helicopter requirements, recently directing its defense ministry to start discussions with Kaman. The multi-mission maritime Seasprite would fit into the ministry’s objective to extend its naval helicopter fleet through 2025. According to Kaman, negotiations are ongoing and “no decisions have been made at this time.”
