Rotorcraft Report: Bristow Orders Frasca Simulators for U.K. Training Operations

CIVIL

Frasca International has a contract to sell Houston-based Bristow Group two full-flight simulators approved by Europe’s Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA). The units are to simulate the Eurocopter EC225 and the Sikorsky Aircraft S-92.

Bristow Group will use the simulators in training operations in Aberdeen, Scotland

"As Bristow Group continues to make substantial investments in its fleet, it’s appropriate that we should acquire the latest simulation technology to match the new generation of helicopters," said Patrick Corr, senior vice president of the Bristow Group.

"We’ve been greatly impressed with the performance of other Frasca products," he said, "and we have every confidence that these new simulators will be an enormous benefit to our training programs."

Each simulator will feature Frasca’s latest technology, including a TruVision Global visual system with a 200-deg-horizontal by 70-deg-vertical display system and a six-axis electric motion base.

The fill-flight simulators also will include flight test validation data, auto-test utility, blade element modeling, automatic certification testing, exact cockpit replication, electric control loading, multi-channel sound simulation and NVG compatibility.

TruVision Global is a major new release of Frasca’s TruVision product line, which features whole-earth coverage at a base map level and allows high-level insets for specific areas.

The Bristow simulators will include several high-detail airports, coast lines and North Sea oil fields. The full-flight simulators are to be dual-qualified as JAA Full-Flight Simulators Level B and JAA Flight Training Device 3 level units.
