Indra Uses Christie Matrix for UK AW159s
Spanish IT company, Indra, has selected the Christie Matrix StIM simulation projection system for the UK’s Ministry of Defence (MoD). The British Army and Royal Navy are set to use the system for training with the new AgustaWestland AW159 Lynx Wildcats. The DLP projection system based off of LED technology will be used with two full mission simulators (FMS) and one fixed flight training device (FTD). All three simulators will be rated to FAA Level D approval. The development of the simulators is part of a contract between the MoD and AgustaWestland for a Lynx training center. Indra is tasked with designing and producing the StIM-powered simulators for the new center AgustaWestland is constructing at Royal Navy Airstation Yeovilton. The simulators are set for commissioning in 2013 and 2014 for the Army and Royal Navy, respectively.
