Telvent DTN has updated features for the RotorWatch weather service, which is part of its MxVision AviationSentry Online program. With coverage in the U.S. and Canada, RotorWatch gives helicopter operators the ability to track in-flight aircraft and approaching weather conditions on the same screen. Telvent DTN senior sales consultants Dale Raymakers and James Miller presented various functions of RotorWatch to attendees of the Rotor & Wing 2010 Safety and Training Summit in June. Map of the Gulf of Mexico shows RotorWatch’s ability to show current helicopter position and the flight path during the previous 60 minutes, with a layered weather map indicating bases with “caution” status related to forecast ceilings. Elbit to Update ANVIS for U.S. Army

Elbit Systems of America has won a five-year indefinite delivery-indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract to supply its Improved Signal Data Converter (ISDC) for night vision goggles used in the U.S. Army’s fleet of CH-47 Chinooks and UH-60M Black Hawks. The agreement with the Army’s PM Air Warrior, Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Ala. calls for Elbit’s Airborne Solutions division to install the ISDC in head-up display (HUD) in the Aviators Night Vision Imaging System (ANVIS). DART Equips STARS Fleet with AKV Cycle Counters

Oceanside, Calif.-based DART Helicopter Services has installed its AKV engine cycle counters in five Eurocopter BK117s with Alberta Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society (STARS). The company says the unit reduces operating costs and lengthens engine life with an optional data stream for automatic data transfer. The AKV counter can track Ng and Np cycles.
