X2 Passes 180 Knots

Sikorsky’s X2 Technology demonstrator reached speeds of 181 knots in a recent flight test at the company’s Development Flight Center in West Palm Beach, Fla. Jim Kagdis, program manager for Sikorsky Advanced Programs, notes that in the third phase of a four-part process, the demonstrator topped speeds of an average conventional helicopter, “generally 160–170 knots.” The X2 demonstrator is designed to cruise at 250 knots.
