Turkey’s Undersecretariat for the Defense Industry expects potential bidders to respond by Jan. 15 to its request for information on acquisition of 10 heavy-lift helicopters for its armed forces. The heavy-lift aircraft would be the first operated by the Turkish
military. Likely competitors for the $500-million contract are
Boeing’s CH-47 Chinook,
Sikorsky Aircraft’s CH-53, and Mil Helicopter’s Mi-26.
