Thales, DCNS Develop UAV System

DCNS and Thales have taken the next step toward an automatic and deck landing system (D2AD) for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The supplementary phase for technology demonstration, requested by the French Defence Procurement Authority (DGA), will involve sea trials with a French Navy frigate and a Boeing H-6U unmanned Little Bird. The UAV will practice automatic deck landings on the naval vessel during high sea states and low visibility.
