South Korea Opens Rotary-Wing R&D Center
South Korea on Dec. 18 launched an international research and development facility for the production of rotary-wing aircraft as part of its efforts to help the country build indigenous helicopters. The Ministry of Science and Technology said the development of rotorcraft is expected to boost the country's exports and emerge as a future growth industry. The hub could also support development of the Korea Helicopter Project to supply utility and attack aircraft to the military. That is a joint project with Eurocopter that envisions fielding a prototype model in 2008. More
