Sikorsky Moves Toward Goal of Doubling Revenue
Sikorsky Aircraft achieved its first $1-billion-revenue quarter in the last three months of 2006, according to the Connecticut Post. Sikorsky parent UTC reported revenue of $1.08 billion for the Stratford, Conn. manufacturer in the quarter, up 18 percent from $854 million in 2005’s fourth quarter. That boosts Sikorsky’s efforts to double revenue from 2003’s $2-billion level by 2008. UTC said Sikorksy delivered 34 helicopters in the quarter, four more than in the same period a year earlier. It delivered 110 helicopters and had revenue of $3.23 billion for all of 2006. It achieved that despite its first strike in 40 years, which shut down production for 10 weeks. The strike helped lower operating profit below 2005’s level. An analyst with JSA Research Inc., Paul Nisbet, told the Post "they are going to do a lot better this year." He said the company expects to deliver 160 helicopters this year. More
